USE OF LEADER TIC THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA DURING HOUSE FIRE

On February 21rst, 2021, the firefighters of Saint-Jean de Losne and Auxonne (FRANCE) were deployed to the town of Laperrière-sur-Saône for a significant release of smoke from the roof of a private house.

On their arrival, the firefighters were confronted with a fire that had already consumed the entire roof of a 120m² house as well as the converted attic.

A total of 19 firefighters, 2 rural tankers and 3 fire nozzles were mobilized to extinguish the outbreak.

LEADER TIC thermal imaging cameras were used to better analyze the situation and quickly make the right decisions to fight the fire.

About twenty firefighters were trained in September 2020 by the LEADER team (firefighting equipment manufacturer) in the use of thermal cameras but also in the interpretation of infrared waves in intervention.

Since training can be easily overlooked or forgotten, some firefighters are not aware of the value of their TIC’s and are unable to use them properly. Indeed, as with any firefighting equipment, it is important that firefighters are properly trained to use thermal imaging cameras. This knowledge will allow them to fully understand dangerous situations encountered during an intervention and proceed safely.
